Introduction

Scroll2Stove (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) helps you save recipes from the web and personalize them using dietary preferences (such as allergies, diet styles, and dislikes). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Data you provide

• Recipe URLs and shared links: When you paste or share a recipe URL into the app, we fetch publicly available page content to extract recipe information. Saved source URLs are stored with your recipes.
• Recipe data: Titles, ingredients, instructions, servings, categories, favorites, and optional recipe images you save or upload are stored in your Firebase account (Firestore and Firebase Storage).
• Dietary preferences: Allergies, diet styles (for example vegetarian or gluten-free), and ingredient dislikes you set in Preferences are stored in Firebase so we can flag conflicting ingredients and suggest substitutions.
• Shopping lists: Items you add to your shopping list are stored in Firebase.
• Meal plans: Recipes you assign to breakfast, lunch, or dinner slots on the Plan tab are stored in Firebase.
• Photos (optional): If you take or choose a photo to use as a recipe image, that image is uploaded to Firebase Storage. Camera and photo library access is used only for this purpose (and any future on-device recipe scanning features you explicitly use).

Automatically collected data

• Anonymous account ID: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a unique user ID for your install so your recipes and preferences stay associated with your device. We do not require your name, email, or Apple ID to use the app.
• Usage related to subscriptions: Purchase and entitlement status may be processed via Apple and RevenueCat (see below).
• Crash and performance data: Expo / React Native tooling may collect anonymized crash or performance metrics to help us improve the app.

Data we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or Apple ID for app login (Apple may process payment separately when you subscribe).
• We do not track your precise location.
• We do not sell your data to third-party advertisers.

How We Use Your Data

• To save and display your recipes, shopping lists, and preferences.
• To flag ingredients that may conflict with your allergies, diet, or dislikes.
• To generate substitution suggestions, adapt recipes to your preferences, and improve recipe structuring using AI services.
• To estimate nutrition from ingredient names via USDA FoodData Central.
• To manage premium subscription access.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services. Recipe text, ingredient names, and (where needed for substitutions) preference-related context may be sent to these providers. We do not intentionally send your name or email to AI providers because we do not collect them for login.

• Google Firebase: Anonymous authentication, Firestore storage (recipes, shopping lists, preferences), and Firebase Storage (recipe images). Firebase Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• OpenAI: Used via our backend Cloud Functions for tasks such as structuring recipe text from imported pages, adapting recipes to your preferences, and generating ingredient substitution suggestions. OpenAI Privacy Policy: https://openai.com/privacy

• Spoonacular: Ingredient names may be sent to Spoonacular's API to retrieve substitution ideas. Spoonacular Terms: https://spoonacular.com/terms
• USDA FoodData Central: Ingredient names are sent to the USDA API to retrieve nutritional estimates. No account personal data is included. USDA FoodData Central: https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/api-guide.html
• RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat receives an app user identifier and purchase/receipt information as needed to validate entitlements. RevenueCat Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
• Apple: App distribution, Share Sheet / system permissions, and App Store subscription billing are handled by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy.

AI and Dietary Guidance Disclaimer

Ingredient flagging, substitutions, and whole-recipe adaptation are assistive tools based on keywords and third-party/AI suggestions. They are not medical advice and may be incomplete or incorrect. If you have severe allergies or medical dietary restrictions, always verify ingredients yourself and consult a qualified professional. Do not rely solely on the app for allergen safety.

Subscriptions

Scroll2Stove offers an optional auto-renewable subscription (Scroll2Stove Premium). Payment is processed by Apple through your Apple ID account. We do not have access to your full payment card details. Subscription terms:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your recipe, preference, and shopping list data is stored as long as your anonymous Firebase account exists. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete cloud data tied to that anonymous ID. To request deletion of your data, contact us at the email below and include enough detail for us to locate your account where possible.

Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
